Its been 2 years already that I have endured in  this jungle of mine. I still remember when I first received news about my acceptance in a local university, The thrill buzzing in my head and I didn’t care about anything else until I got here. I have always dreamed about the university experience; the friend, the parties, the life (lol..partially blame tv for this).

That was until I came here.

During my adjustment period the  reality of this place did not hit me as I was still excited. But then, I slowly realized that even the nearest form of entertainment or fast food was about 2 hours away by public transport. The horror! Well I have manage to survive with a year remaining and I can proudly say that my eyes have opened to natures beauty. 🙂

In my opinion, a nature lover would really enjoy living here. As a city girl, I would have not imagined seeing  monkeys roaming freely nor species of  bugs and birds up this close! Even the beautiful colors of the skies are amazing as the sun goes down and not to mention the amount of stars at night.  It almost appears as if a child accidentally dropped a whole bottle of sparkles on a black canvas.  As I enjoy natures beauty,  I can say that  this place has taught me many things.

However I honestly can’t wait to get home, as they say you can take the girl out of the city, but you can’t take the city out of the girl.

The cafe area. Filled with fluorescent hues of  common folk. Like me, they just wanted to spend time with their friends. So we sat and discussed about the normal things in life. Made a silent plan of starting a band. The Italian and American are going to pluck their guitars, the Indian will be the drummer followed with the Norwegian as the bassist. The vocalist is the Singaporean with hands busy with a piano. The two dancers are the Arabic and Australian chicks. Now, if all of that did make any sense. Then good! You know the plan and who is doing what.

If the pizza world domination idea looked silly, this one is even way better. Musicals are not in the list. Late night gigs would be present. Solo’s are so not recommended, however the American wants that badly. I will not explain further on his Uno man quest for music glory. it’s quite scary. Nevertheless, costumes are in the list. Think of the band with tribal warriors, french maids, evil fakir and animanics. Cheers! 😛

According to my mum, whenever my father had to put me to sleep as a baby, he would sing a sweet lullaby in Hindi which went like this “….mein gao tum so jau..” . This basically means as I sing you will sleep. LOL, even though the effects were questionable as my mom said sometimes my father used to sleep and me wide awake when she came to check, i guess its safe to say that was my first introduction to music

7 years later as embarrassing as this may sound, when spice girls and boy bands were hit makers. I actually had no idea who they were. this is because i used to listen to music that my father listened to. I can still remember singing along with him to songs like , Ladies Night, Celebration, Get Down On It, Joanna, Right Here Waiting For You, Hotel California, Lies and many more.

Well those were certainly memories that will never be forgotten 🙂

Fast forward 14 years later. Now my dad listens to music I listen too and its so cute to see him sing along to the likes of Pitbull, Akon, beyonce,  and many more. Talk about role reversal 🙂

Anyways, time spent will be remembered always and never forgotten…

Our World Domination Plan!

It was like any other day, Morton, Riccardo and me were enjoying the ‘heat wave’. we retreated to the library after having a good lunch. There we sat on a table where we could scribble stuff and do our homework. I have to admit, the amount of assignments we are given is sheer absurdity. Anyhow, we were busy doing our homework when boredom sunk into our heads. Rest assured we started babbling out random cheesy jokes and telling each other a bit of our homelands. Morton said he was a descendant of a viking! I’m not too sure about that, but history does point out that all Norwegians in the past were vikings! He exclaimed that he would rape and pillage the whole world if he had to. I will leave that quest to him and see if he does succeed!

Riccardo had other ideas of conquest, his primary weapon was a cannon the size of a whale that would shoot spaghetti balls! yes, lines of sauce covered spaghetti to all his opponents and then proclaim europe as his own with Italian supremacy. As for me, I wasnt interested in land. I wanted to rule the seas! why u might ask? well there is no competition for me in taking over the water world! besides I will have an army of giant sharks that would eat people and terrorize any vessel floating on my domain! haha…

To make the funds needed for such elaborate plans of conquest. We decided to make pizzas more interesting for future consumption. By simply changing the colours of the regular pizza and give such a contrast to the texture, that the populace of the world would start investing on our ‘alien’ pizzas! How would u like a pizza with blue tomatoes, red cheese, white meat and the crust green?! Please do leave your comments and tell me if your interested or not! 😀

If you are shocked with the title then its fine as I just wrote that to catch your wandering attention. As I have started my course in entomology, the fascinating tale of how maggots help in the deduction of the victim’s death is quite an anecdotal tale, as showcased in the book I have been reading aptly put – maggots, murder and men which was penned by Dr.Zakaria Erzinclioglu. The mere application of insect biology in the investigation of crime is very interesting. Still the methods used are not for the faint-hearted as most cases involves the victim getting decomposed in a very nasty way.

Well, I will move this topic now to other trivial matters such as my shopping spree in IKEA which I must confess was quite tiring but fun nevertheless. Finding items was quite a hassle until I discovered you need a paper and pencil to write all those swedish names and then hunt the very same items in the warehouse department. Still, It was very fun with my friend Parveen, who helped me out and also sought to find ‘useful’ items for her own. The warehouse was like ‘you pile it high and sell it cheap’ temple. If you ever have been to IKEA, you will know what im talking about! First we had to wade through the large numbers of people waiting to gain entry to the place followed by passing narrow entry points from one location to the other (for example – kitchen to lighting) add in some pushing and crushing with the crowd and your in utter chaos. Haha, do not worry we didn’t hurt anyone, I hope! My conclusion, any trip to IKEA be organized with military precision in such a manner that the store is so laid out, you need to pass through most of the shop before reaching the checkout section. So be prepared!

When Life Is Dull, Play Pool! :D

Hola everyone, yes its been a while since I posted anything on the blog, guess I haven’t had the luxury to When I grabbed my hands on within temptation’ s album back 2 months ago, it was sort of rare to get it here as much of the symphonic metal genre isn’t well notified here in Malaysia.

Well as a start, for those who do not know Within Temptation is a Dutch band and are considered superstars in Europe (I’m guessing with much popularity due to their on growing legions of fans). The Invasion of their music to the worldwide masses wasn’t easy though and took much time for others to recognize the talent they had in delivering such music to masses..Well, the album I have is one of their latest additions since mother earth quite a while ago and I must admit that The Heart Of Everything is a strong album with an appealing blend of gothic and symphonic metal. The songs are dynamic and super-flows with metal guitars winding around and takes you through epic journey with orchestral arrangements here and there. They have the optimum balance of melodies and brings out hooks of mainstream rock with the depth and complexity of classical music plus adding up with some darker edges of gothic metal. One main reason to listen to them is due to Sharon den Adel who is Within Temptation’s vocalist, and she’s one big powerhouse! She has a great tone and delivers music notes with lots of versatility. She showcases an angelic soprano with a powerful and yet expressive attitude and beckons you to stop what you are doing and keep you listening for more!

On the side note, Its been pretty hectic for me. In the past few months, I have been traveling around Malaysia visiting friends from all regions in the country and at the same time catching a glimpse of Malaysian lifestyle which somewhat tends to vary despite it being static in terms of culture and cuisine. Yes, its true that its dynamic in such areas, but I guess staying here for a long time has made it somewhat mundane in my perspective. On the other hand, My life became quite dull for a week or so and scared me as I wasn’t quite used to doing nothing and sitting in the house.I’m trying to change that and hopefully things around my life will get better.

I hit up with my next post soon.. Need a cup of latte! ^^

The watch struck 12 am, Once again I was on the bus after a hiatus of one month and half, back to Sugani Petani. I had the funny feeling that I was going back for my classes. Heck, I felt deja vu seeing panoramic views of the town after I arrived. Took a taxi to Nadia’s place to bunk out. It was 5 am when I reached the house and straight away hit the bed…

Woke up at 8.30 am due to the sunlight, got ready with my phone buzzing with mails from my friends, asking have I arrived yet. With no further delay, I left for the campus and the new guards stopped me. smiling I spoke hindi with them and explained I am an ex-student of this campus. Still gave me a visitor’s pass and that made me feel like I was entering a different place altogether.

Ran down to admin’s office to get my final exam transcript, results was very promising and goodness, I managed to ace my research! *happy me* Next stop was the cafe, seeing the familiar place made my mind go into movie reel with many fond memories of fun. Met all my buddies who apparently were busy doing some membership drive for all the old and new student alike. The cafe was buzzing with activity and more so I saw so many new faces that made me feel like I was in a different place again!

The lunchtime session was coming to a close and then I saw many people drifting to their respective classes in session. Joined one table with some buddies who didn’t have class yet. while chatting, got a sms from the ‘mystery‘ girl. I asked where she was cause I wanted to meet her. She notified me saying that she was in the library studying. I excused myself from the table discussion and made my way to the library. On the 2nd floor, I saw her reading notes with some much concentration. I sat on the opposite table and stared at her. she suddenly noticed me and gave me a shock face. I smiled. Brushing her hair she slowly got up and bumped into her friends who were sniggering, which made me realize that she wasn’t alone! She sat down with a shy face made a slight conversation with me. I looked at her smiling, but she couldn’t look into my face much, so much shyness in her, it was so cute. I told her to carry on with her studies and that’s when she looked at me thinking would I say anything more… well I didn’t as I noticed her friends staring at us from the distance. I repeated my words again with hand gestures telling her to study for her finals. Before she got up, I said it was nice meeting you face to face, she nodded with a cheerful smile and said ‘ yes, its good to see you’. With that she left for her study table and I left the place with a hidden smile in my face. I must admit, I was really happy to see her…

*Ahem* so with that short meeting of fate, I ran down to the cafe to continue my conversation into the wee hours with dusk finally arriving. Nadia gave me a call and told me to get ready for dinner at cs. So we all got ready, went out to cs with Habeeb, Kugi, Jasmine, Savy, Angelle,Steven and Nadia. Watched Star Trek! *2nd time for me, still liked it* Had Dinner at MCD and then it was time to part away. The Time was 11pm. After much group hugs and byes. I went into the bus at 12am and left sp. (12 hours in sp) 😀

Now heading down all the way to the south, Where in lies Malacca

Aite, So I took the bus to malacca and arrived at noon, Sanjay picked me up and we arrived at his house. After meeting up with his family. We got ready to go for the Barsi Event held at the Gurdwara. It was crowded with so many people. We did our prayers and had dinner there. It was a lively experince for me! so much nosie and prayer chants. Outside, there were stalls filled with sweets and dresses. We met up with Harveen & family and left to have supper at a chinese stall, hoping to eat the malacca’s delicacy -chicken rice balls. Sadly, they didnt make them. So after having a light supper, we crashed at sanjay’s abode and talked till 3 am. Soon it was sleeping time…

Next morning, Had a quick shower and breakfast and went to the Gurdwara to meet Rashdeep and gang. Then had our lunch at a famous place for chicken rice balls!! Yummy! Finally got to taste them! Then it was time to say farewell to everyone…

It was tiring but fun trip across the country!
